Michael J. Douglas maintains a general litigation practice. He has litigated matters in Alabama State and Federal Courts associated with construction liability, insurance coverage disputes, fraud, personal injury, contractual disputes, intellectual property rights and trucking and motor carrier litigation. In addition, Mr. Douglas has represented several companies of various sizes and individuals in pre-litigation matters with a focus on resolving issues to avoid the expense and time associated with litigation.
Mr. Douglas has negotiated numerous contracts on behalf of musicians and musical groups. Also, Mr. Douglas has successfully litigated copyright infringement and breach of contract cases on behalf of musicians. He currently serves as a Division Chair (Music) of the Intellectual Property, Entertainment and Sports Law Section of the Alabama State Bar. Finally, Mr. Douglas is a Certified Contract Advisor with the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA).
Mr. Douglas is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Alabama. He is a member of numerous local, state and national organizations, including the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, the Defense Research Institute, Birmingham Bar Association, American Bar Association and the UAB Leadership Council.
Mr. Douglas has a B.A. from Auburn University and graduated from Samford University's Cumberland School of Law.
