Joe Kerr's practice is devoted to civil litigation, with an emphasis on mass torts, environmental law, and commercial litigation. He frequently counsels clients on matters of insurance coverage and issues related to the mining and quarrying industry.
Mr. Kerr practices in all state and federal courts in Alabama. As a part of the firm's appellate practice, Mr. Kerr has litigated issues in before the Alabama Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Alabama, and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. Outside the state of Alabama, Mr. Kerr has been admitted to practice pro hac vice in the Eastern District of Tennessee and the Northern District of Mississippi.
Before law school, Mr. Kerr worked as a registered representative in the Private Client Groups at Merrill Lynch and CIBC Oppenheimer in New York City. This prior experience has proven valuable in assisting the firm's clients with both prosecuting and defending business torts and other matters related to commercial litigation.
Mr. Kerr received his J.D. from the University of Alabama, where he served as a Senior Editor on the Alabama Law Review. He is also a graduate of Washington & Lee University with a Bachelor of Arts in American History.
